Black Banarasi Saree – corset blouse

Black Banarasi Saree corset blouse designer saree

“A black sequin beaded saree with tasseled pallu and a black corset embroidered in gold and silver.”

I also like that tit nicely blends gold and silver, something that is not always easy to do.

A corset blouse adds certain elegance and sophistication to the saree; but to me the more important element it adds is the fusion element – making it more appropriate to wear in a mixed desi-videsi environment.

Here is an interesting combo; black banarasi with a corset blouse with intricate embroidery.

From sheetal; about $500 for saree and $300 for a blouse.

Black + gold+ banarasi is triple beautiful

Black + gold+ banarasi is triple beautiful designer saree

Take black and gold and put it on a Banarasi saree – its a no-brainer. It has to look good. OK, may be some companies might ruin it by pairing it with some non-descript non-matching blouse, but thats it!

Plain black benarasi silk sari with golden mustard borders. Floral thread work, bugle beads and sequins embellish the borders. Similar but more elaborate work at the pallu end.

How about this combo of banarasi black and gold zari combo? I think the one above looks classier.

I see a little bit of copper in the border and a hint of green embroidery too.

saree jargon: zari zardosi pitta and diamonte

saree jargon: zari zardosi pitta and diamonte saree shopping designer saree

This saree is pithily described as:

A Ruby Red rich banarasi zari buti saree drape with nine yard contrasting Green woven encrusted border n zardosi pitta n diamonte worn with two tone Copper Green banarasi brocade choli with highlighting.

OK, do you understand what this means?

Let me try to decipher each word:

Red Ruby – color of the main part of the saree – primary color

Banarasi – Banarasi silk (not always but one starts with that assumption)

zari – metalic thread

buti – small repeated design on the saree

zari buti – small repeated pattern created with metallic thread

9 yards contrasting border – saree is six yards, but the border covers the width of the saree on one side (and a little bit on the other side)- so the total BORDER LENGTH is 9 yards

zardosi – metallic thread embroidery. Zardosi is a form of embroidery done by golden metal wires. For this form, embroidery saree is first tucked in a frame an then number of “kaarigars” design beautiful intricate patterns on the fabric through metal threads. This is an very timetaking and hard work. Zardosi sarees are not only famous in India but it has a vast demand in countries outside India too.

Pitta work – a type of embroidery, rich and detailed

diamonte – shiny or iridescent, as if covered in or made of diamonds; another word for rhinestones

encrusted – border is fully covered with embroidery and design work using multiple techniques

contrasting green – the color of the diamonte or the embroidery is green which contrasts with the base color and shows up better.

two tone copper – green choli : the blouse is two tones, copper and green

banarasi brocade :Brocade is richly decorative shuttle-woven fabrics, often made in colored silks and with or without metallic threads.

choli with highlighting – the blouse fabric has certaib high lighting giving it a translucent texture and color
