I am going to check to see if in 2010 Asian Games and in 2010 Olympic games a new sport of “how low can you wear a saree” has been added or not. It sure seems that way. It wasn’t long ago when people were wondering if it is OK to wear saree below the navel and now the question is how low can you wear it.

I have heard of pushing the envelope proverb, but do they have to literally apply it to the saree?

The competition is how low can you wear it. Some time it is sexy, navalecious, I call it, but when it is forced it just looks lewd.

She normally doesn’t wear her sarees so much below the navel, really, she doesn’t. But in this case, it is that darn chabi gucchha (keyring) hanging from the saree that is pulling it down. I swear!

Ok, how many of you thought that I was talking about accentuating the booties, the small repeated embroidery, on the saree? Any body?!!

Just because it is Friday, I shouldn’t dip so low… but while I have my gaze fixated in the southernly direction of Ms. Shalini Sahuta’s figure, lets me admire the shapely and sexy silhouette this saree creates.

You might not want to wear it this way, but isn’t it good to know that you can, if you want to.

I find this a little more evocative than the saree “below the navel” preference that Indian culture has.

I never thought about it, but I wonder if you can show a whale-tail when you are wearing a saree. Technically it shouldn’t be possible, but in some neo sarees … may be…

I know, I know, what this saree is about – but its Friday evening, we all got to let loose sometime!

How can you fault somebody for going geen?

Like the magenta color – hate the plain blouse. I see the neck design but otherwise it seems a bit sparse to me.

A couple of things that this blog doesn’t fully capture are the print ads and sarees in the movies. Hopefully we will fix that in coming months.

I like the color combination and I think the placement of designs is very pleasing too. It doesn’t cover the whole saree with the stripes but adds them only for the pallu.

This is a knock out saree; delightful kashta inspired drape, beautiful flowing fabric and just the right amount of dazzle paired with a wonderfully glamrous saree blouse design!

And the lady, sameera, wears it well!

She is the 16th richest woman in entertainment history, has modelled for Dior, Versace and Ebel…and loves the Indian saree. Not just clothes, the supermodel is keen on everything Indian. “I’ve never been to India, but I’ve always wanted to visit. Its stories and culture are fascinating to me,” she notes.

I really like the saree; it is not over done as very often designers tend to do. The color choice is sophesticated, not trying to emphasize ethnic connotation of the saree.

I thought butterfly pallus sarees were gone but I have been seeing more and more of recently.

Especially when one of the character in an Indian TV soap opera stopped wearing the butterfly pallu saree, I didn’t think the fashion will stay around much longer.

But I can see why the butterfly pallu design is attractive to many; having a neat placement of pallu is important and this design offers some interesting some possibilities.

Something incongruent about saying “black transparent saree”.

Don’t particularly care for the green blouse with the fire engine red saree, but I like the use of texture and perhaps matching of the texture for the saree and the blouse.

An interesting very low saree drape. I also like the colors and bead work on the blouse. When paired with a monotone silk saree with natural luster, the combination is very pleasing.
