“Framed Traditions” are pieces of handmade art created from sarees. According to the website, each “Framed Tradition” is created by extracting the non-damaged parts of old sarees and mixing and matching the borders with the bodies to form various patterns and collages.
This specific piece is 3 Dimensional created by blending in other elements like jewelery or silver objects with the pleated sarees in shadow box frames. The sarees are either cotton or silk and usually have heavily embroidered borders. The art pieces are all sold with frames and 10% of each sale is donated towards funding children’s education in India.
