What do you think of this chocolate blouse with a saree?
May be not, it will become too messy!
I will showcase some of the Raja Ravi Verma’s paintings, first to show the beauty of the painting and secondly to show some historical context to the current saree designs.
Most of the paintings were done in 1870-1905, so the paintings give a sense of saree designs at that time.
Here is a reproduction of one of his painting.

There must be a religious significance to the green bangles (wasn’t there a movie called Hare Kanch ki Chuddiya – green glass bangles). A light saree with bright blouse and a very thin border on the saree are nice.
There is a lot of controversy about the cheer leaders at the Indian Premier Cricket League IPL. Politicians hate it when the cheer leaders wear skimpy clothes.
Here is a solution that I found recently. Let’s make saree a cheerleader uniform.
Something like this.

Just wait till they start dancing.
I am just kidding with the picture above, but seriously, if one wanted to have an ultra sexy saree for cheer leader uniform, that can be arranged!
We have seen it in many a bollywodd films. I don’t know whey it can’t be implemented at the stadium.
I will update this post when I find a perfect picture to show that a sexy saree uniform would work for the Indian Cricket League.
Update:
This is what the Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) chose for the uniform. Lycra for body hugging movement. Strangely, some of the UK sites are calling this a saree; proving once again that they don’t know cricket and they don’t know saree!

We have talked about lycra saree in this blog, but this is not it.
These days, you can’t tell the difference between the two!
Eileen Cook, an author from Vancouver, wrote about her saree-accessory shopping experience and she captured many of the nuances well:
… Have you ever been to a sari store? I had a serious case of fabric lust. I bought a pair of earrings that are roughly the size of a large lighting fixture and more bracelets than a 1980’s Madonna video. We then went to A.’s seamstress who is making the sari shirt thingy (this is of course the technical term) that goes under the sari so that when it falls off we don’t flash our ta-tas at the wedding. I promise to post pictures in May. Not of my ta-tas- but of the sari.

We wish her well and are looking forward to seeing her saree pictures.

This is too precious not to share with you. A drawing by IndiaTimes, reflecting on the neck and neck race between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

There are plenty of places to advertise, your back shouldn’t be one of them.
