A user sent me this saree picture (thanks BM).
I really like the blouse design – the whole black and white, artsy look is very becoming.
I am pretty sure it is from Utsav Saree.

At the Maheka Mirpuri’s Bridal show, Bipasha walked the ramp. I know she is not wearing a saree, but the blouse Maheka had with Bipasha’s ensemble was something out of ordinary for sure.
It has so many things going for it; it has the asymmetry that I like, it has the gems, it has the play on colors, it has curvaceous shapes – and no, I am not referring to Bipasha, silly, I am referring the blouse design – pay attention!!!

Recently Soumya asked : Is there a website where I can just buy a blouse for my saree… I just need a plain black blouse?
I am going to regret posting this for sure; I really really don’t want to see anybody running around in a saree with a non-descript blouse. But at the same time, I understand that sometime, you don’t want to go to Spago, you just want plain macroni and cheese!
OK, here it goes.
If you just want a simple blouse for your saree, the absolute simplest and one that is more likely to fit than not, get a lycra blouse. It typically comes in standard sizes s-xl and you can embelish it with something more if you want.
Or you can get a valvet blouse, just because the way the fabric looks, it gives you a little lee way in terms of exact match with the saree color you are looking for.
And the easiest and fastest place to get it is on eBay. Just do a search for sari blouse and you will find several options. Most of the sellers on ebay will even work with you to get the right color and size.
do the following search on ebay.
(lycra, sari, saree) blouse <– copy and paste this in ebay search box for most hits.
you can also do a search on ebay.in (indian ebay) and you will get more option and more customzed results but it takes time.
The blouse shouldn’t cost more then $10-15.
Here are a couple of examples:
Here is an example of the lycra one
You can’t see the self pattern in the pic, but it is not too bad.
And if it doesn’t work, just drape the saree over it!
Some might suggest calling a saree shop nearby and asking them to make a blouse for you; I think it is more trouble than it is worth. Unless you are having a custom work done, don’t bother.
Noureen of Aura Design Studio writes from Houston that she has a stock of plain blouses available or she can quickly make some for you. She can make you an eloberate blouse too if you need one! Please contact her at auradesignstudio at Yahoo dot com
If you know of other places and “reliable” persons who can make blouses in US/UK/AU, please leave a message in the comment section.

A sexy saree display on Bobby, a Nepalese model.
Of course I can tell that she didn’t bother to have the blouse stitched. Just took the piece from the saree and wrapped it around herself.
But it looks very sexy. It doesn’t scream unfinished or raw, instead it looks ethnic and stylish and authentic!

This one is interesting and odd; I am pretty sure that it is flesh colored fabtic between the seams of the sleeves and the body of the blouse.
The long sleeve part and slight discontinuity in the fabric placement creates an interesting look.

I have seen his theme of using long sleeve saree blouses in some of his previous collections.
Look at the how different the fabrics are for each of these blouses. I especially like the top picture with bright colorful design of the sleeves.
