I love the colours and design of this saree. It’s from Pakistani’s popular designer Nomi Ansari. However, the saree also reminded me of one of Satya Paul’s saree from his Pop Art collection.

Neo Sarees: Jersey Saree- Designer Wendell Rodricks

Some more variations in sarees that I should have showcased a while ago.

Here is Jersey Saree by Wendell Rodricks.

Wendell Rodricks is really up to something! Not satisfied with only one- he has designed yet another new saree- the jersey saree. He displayed this fabulous saree design at the Lakme Fashion Week. Jersey is fast becoming the number one choice of young generation due to its breezy, sexy and casual looks. What impresses the young the most is that jersey could go with all- tops, tunics, pencil skirts, dresses- and now Rodricks has modified it to be a saree too! This jersey saree has a built-in choli and the pallu is split in one section, which gathers to a halterneck. The other half loops into a ‘kimono sleeve pallu’. It really looks trendy!

He should have just called it Toga Saree or something.

Lets just say that I don’t particularly care about this saree variation. Mainly because it takes away the essence of a saree, the flow, the fluidity, the the body hugging curves and everything else that is good about the six yards of unconstrained fabric.

saree blouse with jeans

I know, saree blouse with jeans combo very rarely works – this is one more example of it.

Conceptually there is no reason why it shouldn’t though! May be some tweaking is required for the length and the fit, but it should be possible to design a blouse that looks great with jeans and is sort of acceptable with a saree too.

The hippy evolution in Saree

The first thing I noticed was the string sandals, so hippy, love the color coordination!

“The next two decades were influenced by the Hippy style. Women wore go-go glasses, large hoop earrings and large necklaces, and their sarees were heavily embellished with flowers and vibrant colours. In the disco era, the glitter, the shimmer and the gloss reigned supreme.” -The evolution of Saree through the ages

Sassy Saree by Sakhi

This is totally a new-age Saree indeed! A stunning design by Sakhi by Chandras.
