I really like Darshi Keerthisena’s designs. Over the next few weeks, I will showcase some of them.

Yup, its a Satya Paul saree.
I like the temporary drape for a fashion foto; looks eye catching.

The saree is unremarkable, unless you consider the plain saree in itself as remarkable; and I can’t tell much about the blouse except that it is glittery and tassels and is embellished. That’s why I think the saree needs to have a zari border so that you are not relying on the blouse for the glam look.
But she has something else going for here – wonderfully coiffed hair. Looks like she just walked out from the salon after hours of teasing her hair to make them look absolutely perfect. And I think she succeeded; I am not sure about the tikka, but Liza looks Marvelous – to borrow a phrase from the 80′s.

Sometimes you see the colors, you see the texture, you see the embellishment and yet, the personality of the saree doesn’t come out.
Here is an example; remember that saree is nothing but six yards of attitude!

Same silver jewelry but different sarees.
I am not even convinced that any of these sarees need neck jewelry; especially the white/silver one. It is busy enough as it is.
It is very rare that silver jewelry goes with a saree that has gold zari in it. The maroon and gold saree is a pretty one but the white silver or platinum piece is very distracting.

May be she took off the polka dot turtle neck and just used the black blouse; I think it will look very elegant.

First lady of Sri Lanka, Madam Sheranthi Rajapakse with Shobhaa stunning in a batik sari by Darshi Keerthisena.
Shobha De was in Lanka for the Colombo Fashion Statement – vouge fashion show.
Colombo Fashion Statement was held a couple of weeks ago and I show cased some of the Shobha De Sarees there.
Here are a couple of Satya Paul sarees. Nothing new here, most of the things we have seen before, but Puneet’s work is so distinctive that it is a delight to watch it.

And yes, that is Neha Dhupia.
