Three different wedding pictures of Gopika, a south Indian actress.
Gopika got married on July 17, 2008. She married Dr. Ajilesh who is working in Ireland. As in the case of any malayalam actress getting married, her retirement from film industry is expected – and that is a shame!
Anyway, I found three “wedding dresses”; a classic south Indian red saree, a red and cream outfit and a classic Christian white wedding gown very interesting.
Her website is at Gopika.org
TV serials are a great place to look for saree designs. Here is a wedding saree from Kahani ghar ghar ki.

She did a photoshoot for Asian Bride magazine recently and this is a scan from it.
Pink is purty!

Heidi Klum, 34, and Seal, 45, return to Costa Careyes, Mexico every year to renew their vows at the same resort where they married in 2005. On May 10th they held an Indian-themed renewal ceremony and party attended by 50 guests. Heidi wore a red wedding sari for the day, according to this week’s edition of In Touch.

Bridal saree has a much broader meaning then a “wedding dress” would have. There is the saree for actual wedding ceremony, there is the reception saree, there is the post reception party saree and then there is the pre marriage sangeet saree… all of them are collectively referred to as wedding sarees.
That’s why you very often see a panoply of colors for wedding sarees.
These are some of the sarees shown on May 28th in Banglore.

This is not “the wedding saree”; but it is a wedding saree worn during one of the many rituals.
This is at a Malaysian Hindu wedding, so a few elements that one would not consider as typical north-Indian Hindu traditions, have been incorporated.
But the vail, and cream colored saree with maroon border and maroon blouse looks very interesting.
We wish the new bride a life time of good saree wearing!
