SareeSense: The Jewel of Singapore

Saree HOME from The Singapore Saree/Heritage Collection – Fall/Winter 2014 by designer Subashini Balakrishnan (Saree Sense). Inspired by Satya Paul and Masaba Gupta’s luxury range of printed sarees, Singaporean designer Subashini decided to launch her own line of saree but rather on an affordable price, designed using quality fabrics and printing technique. And they are chic! Good job, Subashini, you know how I rave about talented, young and emerging saree designers from around the world. I’m on a hunt for them everyday!

Colleen Francisca, Miss World Singapore 2006 & Saree Sense’s Brand ambassador in Subashini’s one of only ten exclusive pieces in this line, “ALL HAIL THE KING”, a design that has an intricate detail of the popular tropical fruit from Southeast Asia, Durian that’s known as King of fruits among Singaporeans and Malaysians.

Subashini walks the ramp with her Fall/Winter 2014 collection, The Singapore Saree – Heritage, that uniquely captures the essence of the multi-ethnic city-state, populated with high-rise buildings and breathtaking landscape gardens.

Singapore’s Miss Vasantham 2011, Vimala Velu modeling Subashini’s piece called HOME, an orange, black and white checkered pattern with design inspired by Singapore’s HDB housing landscape. This is my fav piece Subashini, and you rock Vimala Velu!
