  1. Normally I like heavy jewellery but that is vulgar. It is the necklace and earring equivalent of a boxing champion’s belt…

    As long as jewellery is sold by weight the designs will stay fairly conservative, as craftsmanship and originality are not the selling point. And as soon as it is sold because of a designer’s cachet it will become either tiny and dull looking, like most Tiffany products, or this… Also most jewellery in South Asia seems to be bought to wear at weddings, which tend to be more conservative occasions.
