I hated it then, I hate it now twice as much.
First of all it is so unusually distinctive that wearer gets branded and asked “oh thats the Masaba or sonam kapoor saree”, used to happen to Satya Paul sarees.
It is a beautiful saree in the sense of ‘construction of the saree”, but not as a piece to wear.
Many designers think that saree is like a canvas and you can do whatever you want with it. Wished that was true.
The scope and size of the canvas is not the six yards, as Masaba has done here, it is still less than a yard, the part that is orchestrated to come together in to a coherent piece.
Don’t misunderstand me, I am her biggest supporter, but when things are not right, I got to say something.

You probably got confused because I refer to them as Masaba sarees. Masaba Gupta is the designer of this saree.

Hah–the cow saree! I’m a little embarrased to say I still get a chuckle out of this design.
And, digging Sonam as much as I do, I cringe painfully seeing her again clad therein. Ooof!
But both women look quite lovely otherwise.
