Interesting mehndi (and maybe some sarees too after the break)

I’m not desi, but since I absolutely adore South Asian culture I often find myself looking at pictures of fusion weddings. (It makes me feel included, and that’s comforting.)

Jon Armendariz of NewYorkFilmworks shot this beautiful fusion wedding, all the images are snapshots from the wedding video, which you can watch here.

I mainly just wanted to show you this mehndi, but I’ll justify the post with some saree pictures after the break.

  1. nice photos, but the mendhi would have been even better if it was written in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, or any other mother language the bride’s family speaks.

    last pix is really cool

  2. Your idea would probably be good in an entirely indian wedding, but I think if you’re marrying someone who can’t read the language of the love quote on your arm then you’re excluding them, and that wouldn’t be the best start for the marriage.

  3. Tattoos, even when they are Henna tattoos, are intensely personal. When you look at it and if it doesn’t mean something to you, it is of limited value.

Although Tamil tattoo would look awesome.

In fact, I don’t think I have seen any tamil tattoos. Hindi and some punjabi, but none is south Indian language

  4. Great photos, and a wonderfully touching sentiment expressed with the mehendi.
