And from the front:
This was a charity gala Mijwan fashion show, organized by Shabana Azmi. It is for a good cause, here is the website.
I love how the blouse sort of fades away in to the intricate border of the saree. The backless saree blouse goes really well with this lahenga-saree. Other than earrings, I have nothing to complain about – ok, I don’t like the braid either.
I adore this lahenga! I like the flow of the fabric and I like the intricate and stunning choli. I like the easy drape and I like the ornate border.
This was taken at Mijwan fashion show. The show that I fully and wholeheartedly support.
What is Mijwan fashion show? It is an annual show organized by Mijwan Welfare society. Mijwan was started by kaifi Azami, a urdu poet of note and Shabana’s dad. After he passed away in 2002, Shabana has taken interest in it and she has started hosing this show where she is able to invite all the major movie stars. Last year was a mega success and this year it is even better.
From Hrithik Roshan to Lara Dutta, Dia Mirza to Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra to Karan Johar, the ramp shone each time stars stepped on it in creations by Manish Malhotra. Current hotties Anushka Sharma, Ranvir Singh, Monikangana Dutta, Lisa Haydon, Shazahn Padamsee, Aditya Roy Kapur and Prateik were cheered on just as much as the veterans. Sandhya Mridul, Rohit Roy and Tusshar Kapoor also did the catwalk.
This year is particulary interesting because the all the funds will go to the Girls foundations for schooling of girls in small villages. And I can’t think of any better cause.
Check out Mijwan’s website.
Because the cause is worthy, I’ll even endure watching Shabana wear some hideous saree.
Some very distinctive and sexy blouse design. My view is that one should make the blouses fanciful but not intricate. As you can see in the picture, for the model on the right, the design looks eye catching but it also looks as if it is not fitted right. I like to avoid creating a design that is prone to that kind of unwelcome variation.
Something about black and something about black paired with gold – very royal and gives the sense of opulent.
I like this combo. Here are the details of the blouse, if you’d like to see it.
