BJP MP Varun Gandhi may not have inherited the political legacy of his Gandhi-Nehru family, but his Bengali bride, Yamini Roy, will get married in a pink and gold brocade Benarasi sari that belonged to his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, on March 6. It was gift from the late Prime Minister to her daughter-in-law, Maneka, when she married her younger son Sanjay.
For the grand reception in the Capital on March 8, Yamini will be clad in a 100-year-old Benarasi, woven in orange and gold, that belonged to Varun’s great grandmother, Kamala Nehru. She will also wear mostly heirloom jewellery from both sides of the family.
