Naziya Syed at Chennai International Fashion Week – La Belle Epoch

Nazia Syed, whose show was titled “La Belle Epoch”, was inspired by “Art Nouveau” – French for “New Art”. She added that it is an international art movement and style of decoration and architecture of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, characterized predominantly by the curvilinear portrayal of leaves and flowers and organic motifs with references to the works of famous artists like Alphonse Maria Mucha, Gustav Klimt and Antonio Gaudi. Nazia’s line consisted of urbane evening gowns, saris dresses and separates using ultra light, vibrant colored materials.

Considering the theme, the saree prints and colors are consistent, but it is not my favorite saree. I am looking forward to seeing more of her work. What I really liked was that there was a theme to the collection and the pieces fit so smoothly within that theme.
