The poster advertisements for Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s new film Kurbaan have some covervatives in a huff. The ads show a topless Kapoor, with her back towards the camera, against a topless Khan.

The Hindu conservative group Shiv Sena has reacted negatively to the ad, though that’s not surprising. Sena apparently plans to gift Kareena Kapoor a new saree to cover up with.
Taking the matter lightly, Kareena’s response is: “I have not received any saree, but I hope it will be a beautiful one.”

I just read the plot description on wikipedia:
Avantika Ahuja (Kareena Kapoor) who lives in the US, returns to Delhi … While in Delhi she meets Ehsaan (Saif Ali Khan), a Delhi University Professor… He turns out to be a terrorist who marries her in order to cover up his identity… Sooner Kareena also finds out that Ehsaan plans to hijack a flight and one of the passengers on that flight is Riyaaz (Vivek Oberoi), a journalist.
I hope somebody flies a plane into the director’s house! This is the most insensitive, racist, post 9-11 bullshit I’ve ever heard. HIJACKING PLANES IS NOT A PUNCHLINE!
“HIJACKING PLANES IS NOT A PUNCHLINE!”
I totally agree. Though apparently anything is up for grabs in Indian films. Like Dasavathaaram, where they played off the tsunami. It was disgusting to see a natural disaster and the resulting loss in human lives be made into a plot device in a movie that is a groveling homage to Kamal Haasan.
