Hate this saree and the way she is wearing it; I don’t like the way it is falling, I don’t like the silhouette it creates, I don’t like the unnatural pinning of the saree and I don’t like the way pallu is held.

A white saree can look elegant and sexy; not because it is white, but because how it interacts with the woman wearing it. This is not it.

  1. And, we hate the bra/blouse shown with this saree, which looks like underwear that wasn’t supposed to show.

  2. I hate saris pinned like this also, it looks like an air hostess! I much prefer it when the pallu is allowed to drape over the arm.

  3. I disagree with all of you! I think it looks great! At fancy events, of which I go to a lot, I always end up pinning my pallu as otherwise I get a sore left elbow posing with the pallu draped over my left arm…..and it frees up both my arms to hold my bag, a drink, shake hands etc. And on a hot day or in a hot room, sleeveless is essential and the entire thing is cooler with the pallu pinned. While the blouse is tiny I dont think it looks like underwear and she looks good in it. White saris usually make you look fat-this one doesnt. The model has pretty arms and back and can get away with showing them off.

  4. I am not complaining about pinning the saree. In modern day, you really have to. But you can pin it so that the flow of the saree is natural. Good pinning is such that nobody can tell that the saree is pinned. If you pin it the way she has here, what is the difference between this saree and the butterfly pallu saree?

  5. True, I agree with that-it is pulled a tad tight-but it could be worse. Actually, when I was taught how to wear a sari, by my mother, I was told pinning is vulgar, so I use 1 pin if I must, never pin the pleats, and have learned to manage the fabric and walk with a good carriage-traditional saris either dont slip as much or can be tucked in the waist. This is an art and takes practice, and is impossible with polyester……

  6. Another thought-I own a sari that I wear with a thin strapped blouse like the one in the pic. There is nothing to pin the pallu TO. I either dont pin or I use a rhinestone dress clip at the front (its a black and silver chiffon sari with a dotted makash pattern-very elegant and understated), which does at least add an accent to the neckline. I always keep an eye out for nice brooches, and this is a jewellery item that might be more obvious in Indian jewellers that it currently seems to be-brooches or clips are very useful in this type of outfit.

  7. i love the saree’s border..i like the first pic.. hated the bra………this saree shows off her perfect figure well.. though the colour is dull…
hey i love how so many people have so much understanding for a saree..
