Nida Mahmood is a fashion designer, painter, columnist, stylist and a graphic artist. Apart from a weekly column in the HT City, she also writes for various other publications including Vogue.com and fashioncurry.com. The label epitomizes her design philosophy ‘art translated’ in more ways than one. It embodies a unique look – that which breaks all boundaries, and that believes in combining disharmonious elements together into a unified whole.

Yes, she does bring disharmonious elements together, no doubt about that.

Ekru by Ekta and Ruchira, is a label synonymous with classic designs and understated elegance. The brand philosophy is simple, wearable and refined outfits for the women of today. Ekru presents ‘Bellavista’, which in Spanish means a ‘beautiful sight’. A flamboyantly chic collection embracing rich heritage of cross cultures Europe, India and Mexico, it exudes vivid colourful Mexican folk culture, and the contemporary modern.

I don’t particularly like this one. Not sure what could have been done to make this better. A brown blouse would not work.

Slightly understated, but warm colors by Rabani and Rakha. There is one other that I liked slightly better.

Mynah – the brand started by Reynu Taandon showcases the designer’s spirit and energy. There is elaborate draping and fusion, bringing elegance to her garments. She aspires to make Indian fashion more popular and affordable.
