his name is michael Wijesuriya. NOT Wyesuriya.
Most brides from the ‘better-off’ families in SL get their bridal jackets done by him. I think he does a great job. If i do get married any time soon, he’ll be the person i’d call too.
Ok, I fixed the name; on his label, the stylized writing made it hard to figure out the spelling.
Not to self: don’t rely on scripted writing to decipher names.
Also Christian first names with very traditional Hindu last names are very confusing.
Can you post pictures of Bridal Gujarati Panetars? I’m sure you may already know this, but Panetars are usually traditional white sarees with a red/maroon border…nowadays they come in many styles and variations. Some panetars are also designed as lehengas.
Thanks.
I heard this guy is very overrated and he is very arrorgant with no customer service skills. Some of these people are good but think they are gods gift to sri lankan brides i believe this person one of them i would never go to this person for my wedding.
Well said Jason Jayasuriya.
Michael Jayasuriya is an arrogant b.a.s.t.a.r.d. He is a media hyped average gay bloke who happened to be at the right place at the right time. Infact Ramani fernando and Chandani Bandara’s designs are way better. Just because Michael did sarees for a couple of sri lankan actresses doesn’t make him a god in sri lankan bridal designs. He treats people like shit and his pompous attitude overrides any talent he’s got. Michael Wijesuriya is a fraud and a joke.
its very easy to look at people and judge without knowing about them… without knowing a person its very stupid to comment on what that person is like by hearsay but thats typical srilankan attitude..
he has talent and he has proved that time and again by being in this field for decades and charging i think the highest fee… agreed that jus becz he charges a lot doesnt automatically make him the best but he is always sought after always booked and that means no matter how worthless you think he is he must be doing something right huh???
and as for being n arrogant man…he detests social climbers and being taken advantage of…nor does he pander to the society ladies goosip fare and politics…personally i find that kind of forthrightness and pride refreshing from the spineless yes-men we have in colombo who would do anything if money is coming to them…and if only his detractors knew how hard he works how much personal time he gives to each peice of clothing he accepts…did u know he is a seroius heart patient whose heart runs from a battery?
and every penny he earns goes towards takingcare of his loved ones …do u know that the people who work for him have dome so for decades becaose he is the most generous and thoughtful boss iv ever come across…and how many weddings that man has done for people without much money…and never taken a cent from them…how stupid some ppl are when they make judgements without any basis….
Well said Jason and Dhara. I believe Melanie is either on Michael’s payroll or does not know what she is talking about. Michael is an arrorgant prick. Ramani, Purnima, Harris and Dananjaya are all better.
I was with my cousins when they went for a fit on with Michael he was 35 minutes late to the appointment and did not even apologize. He is suppose to be one of the best in Sri Lanka what a Joke. If you are from USA,Canada,England,Australia its not like our countries where we can make a request on what we like its all about what Michael likes, its his way or the highway and he is a rude and very arrorgant please dont go to this guy. Please go to Dananjaya or Purnima or Ramani or Harris not this Joker.
I agree with Jason and Dhara. I have seen Michael at work he is an Arrorgant Cocky no good stylist. He is very rude and its always his way or no way the bride cant have an opinion because if you do he gets upset and refuses to do the wedding. He had my cousin waiting 35 minutes and didnt even apologize for being late to the meeting. If you are from USA,Australia,Canada or England dont take this Prick as he is offended the minute we have an opinion about our own wedding. Please go to Ramani,Harris,Dananjaya or Purnima for your wedding needs not this Clown.
Hiya..
So I am feeling mildly panic-ish at the moment. I am Malaysian Sri Lankan and I am getting married in Sri Lanka in December. My partner is Sri Lankan and since I am here in Malaysia, his family is taking care of all the wedding preparations. I have my dress, and I know how I want my hair and makeup. Thing is my future sis in law told me that they were seeing this Michael fellow and she told us that he is apparently really arrogant, so I decided to google his name, and….sad to say, everything I have found has led me to the same conclusion…is he really bad?? I mean, I know what I think looks good, so I am DEFINATELY Going to have an opinion. ALso, I’m coming from a very international background having lived all over south east asia and recently 4 years in AUstralia…I’m not sure if I could deal with someone being…umm “Arrogant” on my wedding day in terms of MY make up.
ANother thing…is he gay? I have gay friends…but an arrogant gay dude telling me exactly what HE wants done with MY hair and style on MY big day? Nuh uhh…
Well curious bride to be if i am you i would not take this arrorgant Michael Wijesuriya. He is gay which is not a problem to me since i have gay friends and this is the 21st century. He is arrogant and very unprofessional and its his way or nothing he will be late to appointments and if you wanna have zero say about your saree or make up or bridesmaids pick him. To anyone please do not pick this Arrorgant prick Michael Wijesuriya.
I will never pick this man Michael Wijesuriya to be my stylist. He is cocky and arrorgant and not that good people in Sri Lanka puts him up on a pedestal and he thinks he is invincible. Please dont take this man he was so rude to my cousin and friends have told me what a jerk Michael is so for any brides out there a warning DONT TAKE MICHAEL.
This man is Terrible he has no customer service skills not professional i went from England and if this is the way he treats clients i would not recommend this person to anyone any future brides out there stay away from Michael Wijesuriya.
People in Sri Lanka pay large sumss for his workn which is below average no where near the amounts he charges he should go to USA OR UK or Aussie and learn customer service skills first do not take him go to someone else.
well here’s what I have to say about michael..before I went to meet him I also had heard about how arrogant he is and bla bla and was so freaked out but I didn’t want to chose anyone else because I have seen a few of his brides especially kandyan and I loved them and I wanted only him to do my bridal..well I went to meet him he wasn’t arrogant at all he gave me an appoinment to meet me and my fiance at Fabric gallery where he buys the fabric from and he was there even before us ..he spent about 2 hours chosing our fabric for me hubby and the bridal retinue without even charging us a cent…so far I have met him about 4 times and he has been nice to me all along..well if we let him do his job without trying to interfere with our openions he is a very nice person..we can let him know our wishes but not say Michael I want this like this..instead I’m like Michael I like this what do you think?…he doesn’t speak much but he listens…so for Me michael has been great so far. my wedding is in december and I will see my bridal when I’ll be in sl 5 days before my wedding..I’m sure he’ll do a great job because he had done an awesome job for my cousin…so brides to be don’t fear him just don’t try to boss him with your openions…he doesn’t like it..and for my wedding to do my bridal , going away, 6 brides maids, 2 flowers girls , hubbys traditional clothes and clothes for 6 grooms men he charged me very reasonably ..I’m veryyyyyyy happy!!
I do not know why some ppl hide certain payments that the brides have to pay at the ‘quotation’, and once all are done, they ask for money at the final ‘bill’! Poor brides then have no option but to pay…. I am dissapointed!
(This is not for Michael wijesuriya, take it as a general comment, cuz I do not see a blog for the seamstress that I have chosen)
i know one of my friend got married in july, her bridal was superb which was done by Michael. and i’ve seen his work on magazines as well, they are out standing. i think he should be able to see what is best for that person as he is a designer who has years of experience in that field than a normal person who is going to get his opinion on their bridal. If you trust him he will do his job right it seems. i’m planning to have my wedding in december and im going to choose him for sure.
