I thought I’d highlight some interesting and innovating blouse (choli) designs from Satya Paul. 2008-2009 season.
The blouse design is not something that is independent of a saree; in fact very often it is the blouse design that makes the saree!
I have been meaning to do a comprehensive article of how to chose a design for your saree and hopefully I will get to it pretty soon. It is not as difficult as you think – it is only twice as difficult as going to an ice cream shop with 31 flavors and picking one.
I know, I didn’t profile Satya Paul Sarees from the WIFW show; did you miss it? Were you wondering that after three fashion shows with all designers and their brothers showcased their sarees, the grand daddy of them all was not shown here?
This collection had a lot of bold prints (so what’s new?) and a lot of sparkling embellishments.
Many of the choli blouse designs are as contemporary as the sarees and as bold as the prints on the saree and this is a classic example.
In this one, the blouse reveals a tad more than what it would it take to move the saree from “sultry” to “slutty!”
