Bibi Russel is a model, designer and an activist from Bangladesh and nice to see some delightful things come out of her design show.

I like the gold and sky blue color mix in this saree, very nice combo.

This is Shobha De’s saree from Colombo- Mariah Colombage is showing it off.

My suggestion to Shobhaa De – don’t follow Satya Paul’s whimsy and odd combinations and bold prints – stay with your core competency of creating rich and luxurious designs that rely on finding the harmony of colors and texture.

I like Satya Paul for trendy, fashionable and fun sarees, but from Shobhaa De, I want to see rich, complex, luxurious designs that are pleasing to the eyes.

If I can explain it in an example with cars; Satya Paul makes Corvetter, very flashy very fast cars, Shobhaa De makes Mercedes, very understated but elegant cars.

Anyway, to make a short story long, (or is it other way around?), this saree strikes me as out of character with some of her more recent work.

Independently, I like the saree and I love the blouse – I am not happy with the combination!

Miss Sri Lanka World 2007 Mariah Colombage in Shobhaa De’s Saree. Very nice blouse design. Again, I don’t understand the neckwear at all, and is that a pair of gold sandles that I see with a silver saree?

Shilpa Shetty in an embarrassing sari “creation”

Shilpa is wearing one of those “where do we start” saris! The sari itself is not that bad – orange with a several traditional borders in gold, green and maroon. The problem is that Shilpa has been festooned with bric-a-brac all over and trotted out on the runway! Even Shilpa looks embarrassed sporting the over laden Christmas tree look!
