Not one of her best pictures, but it has some authenticity to it. The design is a bit dated but I am attracted to it because of its sheer simplicity! I do genuinely believe that simplicity never goes out of style.
This is absolutely beautiful! The detailed work on the pallu and on the border, combined with gold sparkle and heavily embroider blouse makes this a regal saree. Click for a better view.
Wished I knew the story behind this painting! But notice the lack of a “blouse”.
Blouse is a much more recent phenomena with a saree – sort of a Victorian influence to ensure that the top part of the woman’s body is covered.
Also notice the black and gold border on a simple white saree.

This is not “the wedding saree”; but it is a wedding saree worn during one of the many rituals.
This is at a Malaysian Hindu wedding, so a few elements that one would not consider as typical north-Indian Hindu traditions, have been incorporated.
But the vail, and cream colored saree with maroon border and maroon blouse looks very interesting.
