Urmila Matondkar in a far out, feather and rhinestone embellished sari

Now this is an interesting sari for sure!!! Check out Urmila’s highly avant garde sari with the feathers – and I don’t mean just as part of the embroidery, but the sari actually has real feathers all over the sari – just look at the full length image below! And the blouse is equally fascinating. It is studded with rhinestones and has a sassy bunch of feathers on the right atop a massive silver brooch! Wearing something like this takes guts for sure and Urmila is certainly up to the challenge!

Bangladeshi women in shari (saree, sari) and inline skates supporting Bangladeshi Tigers Cricket team

bangladeshi_woman_saree_inline_skates

A Bangladeshi women in Dhaka showing support for Bangladesh Cricket team, in a shari that has the national flag motif and gliding in her inline skates!

PS: before you write to me about the spelling of shari, it is correctly spelled as it refers to Bangladeshi attire.

This is such a delightful picture! Captures the new generation of Bangladeshi women – traditional but in a an iconoclastic way.

If you are in Bangladesh, and are looking for saree, don’t look for sari, or saree – look for sharee; just the way it is pronounced in Bangaldesh.

Bangladeshi Tigers cricket team’s official website is here.

Bridal saree has a much broader meaning then a “wedding dress” would have. There is the saree for actual wedding ceremony, there is the reception saree, there is the post reception party saree and then there is the pre marriage sangeet saree… all of them are collectively referred to as wedding sarees.

That’s why you very often see a panoply of colors for wedding sarees.

These are some of the sarees shown on May 28th in Banglore.

Lara Dutta won the Miss Universe title in 2000 and scored the highest ever in the history of the pageant, in the interview category. Lara also has a quick silver quality where she looks very different from one picture to the next. Here she looks demure in a green sari with self color shadow work and a shiny green blouse. The traditional dangling earrings are just perfect!
