Reputed to cost a whopping Rupees 40 lakhs ($100,000) and weigh 8 kilograms (15 lbs), the sari hand woven by Chennai silks is studded with precious stones and pays homage to Raja Ravi Verma’s paintings, including the one called “Lady Musicians” shown in the picture.

the border of the saree depicts another set of ten other paintings that pays tribute to this 20th century artist. The saree's best part is that the women in the paintings are intricately hand-woven and embellished with jewels of gold, diamond, platinum, silver, ruby, emerald, yellow sapphire, sapphire, cat’s eye, topaz, pearl and corals and integrated with threads made of precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum exactly as it is found in the original painting.
